Mobile App Development

Native and cross platform mobile apps, with the backend behind them, store submission, push, deep links, and analytics. We also tell you honestly when the thing you are describing should be a web app instead.

Do you actually need an app

Most app requests should be a web app

A lot of the time, I want an app really means I want my product on a phone. A responsive web app or a PWA gives you that without the app store, the two codebases, and the update cycle. It is faster to ship and far cheaper to maintain, and it works on every device with a browser.

You genuinely need a native or cross platform app when you need camera, sensors, reliable offline, real push, or a presence in the store itself. We will help you tell the difference before you commit, because building the wrong one is the expensive mistake.

What we build

The app and everything it needs around it

iOS and Android

Native in Swift and Kotlin when the app needs platform depth, or one cross platform codebase in Expo and React Native when it does not. We have built Steeyr's mobile client on Expo next to its web app, sharing one backend.

The backend behind the app

An app is only as good as the API behind it. We build the backend, the auth, and the data layer so the app has something solid to talk to, not a mock that breaks at scale.

Store submission

We handle the App Store and Play Store submission process: the builds, the metadata, the review requirements, and the back and forth that first time submitters get stuck on.

Push and deep linking

Push notifications that are wired to real events, and deep links that open the right screen from an email, a message, or the web, so the app fits into the rest of your product.

Analytics and crash reporting

Analytics so you can see what people actually do, and crash reporting so you find out about a broken build from your tools, not from a one star review.

Maintenance

Apps need upkeep as the operating systems move. We keep builds current with OS releases and store policy changes, or hand the project over cleanly if you want it in house.

How we work

From the right call to the store

01

Decide the shape

First we work out whether you need a native app at all. If a web app or PWA does the job, we say so before anyone writes app code.

02

Build the backend and app together

We build the API and the app in step so the two fit, rather than bolting an app onto a backend that was never designed for it.

03

Ship to the stores

We get it through App Store and Play Store review, with the metadata, screenshots, and policy requirements handled.

04

Measure and maintain

Analytics and crash reporting from day one, and ongoing updates as the platforms change.
